What Really Happened, Krauthammer: Israel Will Not Tolerate Threats of Annihilation

Memo to Charles Krauthammer: sir, I am aware of your personal story, the triumph over the physical trauma of your injuries, and your formidable intellectual gifts.
However, that having been said, using those gifts to create a causus belli for an Israel pre-emptive strike against Iran is both morally - and intellectually - dishonest in the extreme.
I would like to remind you, sir, that - unlike Iran - Israel refuses to become a signatory to the NNPT, has nuclear weapons, and refuses any inspections of its nuclear sites.
I would also like to remind you, sir, that all US aid to any countries which possess nuclear weapons is technically illegal, under the US's Symington Amendment to the Foreign Appropriations Act and the Glenn Act.
To date, all of the IAEA's inspections of Iranian nuclear facilities have demonstrated that absolutely no nuclear materials have been diverted for weapons' purposes.
The level to which Iranian scientists have been enriching their uranium is only to 20%, necessary for producing medical isotopes. A nuclear weapon would take over 95% enrichment. So far, there is absolutely no evidence that this is taking place.
If this is not the case, please then provide the American people with the facts. But of course, you will not, because you cannot, because such alleged "facts" do not exist.
It confounds me that you would make the charge that "“I think Israel will strike because it cannot live under the threat of annihilation from Iran."
And there you are, invoking one of the most allegedly controversial things that Iranian President Mahmoud Amedinejad never said.
The devil is in the detail, wiping Israel off the map suggests a physical genocidal assault, a literal population relocation or elimination akin to what the Nazis did. According to numerous different translations, Ahmadinejad never used the word "map," instead his statement was in the context of time and applied to the Zionist regime occupying Jerusalem. Ahmadinejad was expressing his future hope that the Zionist regime in Israel would fall, not that Iran was going to physically annex the country and its population. To claim Ahmadinejad has issued a rallying cry to ethnically cleanse Israel is akin to saying that Churchill wanted to murder all Germans when he stated his desire to crush the Nazis. This is about the demise of a corrupt occupying power, not the deaths of millions of innocent people.
Mr. Krauthammer, I am rather amazed that you would resort to such a "big lie" technique, knowing it would ultimately come back to haunt you.Because if I understand the essence of what was said here, other thinking people will understand this as well.
Yes, Israel can start such an attack; but most probably not finish it even somewhat successfully without US military intervention.
“In practice, since 2009, the US military controls Israel's Air Defense system, which is integrated into the US global missile defense system,” Michel Chossudovsky, the director of the Center for Research on Globalization, wrote in an article published on the Global Research website on Friday. “Under these circumstances, Israel cannot launch a war against Iran without the consent of Washington and the involvement of the Pentagon,” he added. The United States and Israel have repeatedly threatened Tehran with the "option" of a military strike based on the allegation, championed by Washington, Tel Aviv, and their allies, that Iran's nuclear activities may comprise a covert military agenda.
I would like to strongly caution you, Mr. Krauthammer, that the American people have grown increasingly weary and restive regarding the continued costs in American blood and money which have been spent as a sacrifice upon the altar of potential Israeli hegemony in the Middle East, first with Iraq (remember; Israel's former 'existential threat') and now, Iran.
I would also like to remind you, sir, that officials of both the Chinese and Russian government have gone on record stating that if Iran is attacked, these two nuclear-armed countries will defend Iran with their military assets.
So to recap, we have the potential for a global, thermonuclear war, courtesy of a pre-emptive Israeli strike against Iran, which hasn't started a war in over 200 years, and definitely not since becoming an Islamic Republic in 1979. It's nuclear weapons program has absolutely not been substantiated in fact.
And one final note, Mr. Krauthammer; as you are well aware, Iran is home to one of the largest components of Jewish people in the Middle East, outside of Israel. Any attack against Iran will surely kill numerous Jewish people as well. Is this an acceptable outcome for Israel, in the slaughtering of their fellow and sister Jews in Iran?!?
Or are they simply considered "unworthy of life" by the Israeli government, because they have refused to "make aliyah", i.e., return "home" to Israel?!?
